Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur takes an active part in the pilot project. The Pink Ribbon<\/a> in Pink October, including by adorning the two hearts in the heart of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur with pink flowers and pink decorations: on Strandgata and in Hellisger\u00f0i. In this way, the municipality wishes to promote and support the Cancer Society's important annual campaign, which is dedicated to the fight against cancers in women. This year, the emphasis is on being there and the importance of being present for those women diagnosed with cancer, when their lives change suddenly and a period begins that can prove extremely difficult. A resident of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, Alice Olivia Clarke, is herself one of those undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She is organising a sale of MUNDU accessories and a related event on Pink Day 2021.<\/p>\n

MUNDU is an iconic and beautiful accessory.<\/h4>\n

The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur resident Alice Olivia Clarke runs the shop. Ten<\/a> in the Fir\u00f0i shopping centre, selling brilliant accessories that Alice Olivia herself has designed and made since 2008. Alice Olivia herself is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer and is organising an event, exhibition and sale at Fir\u00f0i and throughout the city centre, which aims to raise awareness of breast cancer. In the run-up to October 2021, Alice has designed a new accessory, a key fob and bag charm, which is especially dedicated to her fight and that of many other women. The accessory is symbolic of breast cancer, and the stone, which is covered in yarn, is meant to represent a lump in a woman's breast. Several other businesswomen from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, including from Edda's Yarn Shop, have worked together on the production at the suggestion of Edda herself, thus helping Alice to make this idea and her own dream a reality.\u00a0 In the coming weeks and months, more MUNDU products will be launched, including in collaboration with Sigga from Sigga&T\u00edm\u00f3 and the artist Embla Sigurgeirsd\u00f3ttir. The products will be available for sale at T\u00edra \u00ed Fir\u00f0i and in other shops on Strandgatan. The progress and production will be guided by Alice's well-being, as she is going through a difficult time at the moment. <\/p>\n

Proceeds from the sale of these unique accessories go to the Cancer Society and support breast cancer research. Alice Oliviu's family is actively involved in the project and her son, illustrator Sigt\u00fdr \u00c6gir K\u00e1rason, drew an infographic showing how to search for tumours in the breast, but it was precisely during such examinations that Alice Olivia discovered her own tumour. The image and information about the Cancer Society's annual campaign are included, adorning the shop in Fir\u00f0i and informing passers-by.<\/p>\n

Pink Day is on Friday, 15th October.<\/a> <\/strong>
On Friday, 15th October, the official Pink Day is being held nationwide. On this Pink Day at 5 p.m., Alice Olivia will be hosting the MUNDU event in Fir\u00f0i, where talented artists will be performing for the enjoyment of guests and passers-by. Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur encourages residents and friends of the town to come in large numbers to the Fj\u00f6r\u00f0ur on Pink Day and take an active part by donating to the campaign, wearing the pink ribbon, wear pink and brighten up the short days with a pink glow, so that all women who have been diagnosed with cancer can feel the support and solidarity of the community. <\/p>\n
