In December, the emphasis is on toys and colours in the vocabulary.
of the children and it was decided to use the opportunity and connect the Christmas calendar and the
its beautifully golden tree right next to it. The idea-maker and aesthete behind
The calendar is Sandra Jónsdóttir, a member of staff of the department.

An Advent calendar that children can easily relate to.

The calendar has been a great delight to the students, and not least to the teachers.
to the staff of the nursery so far this December. The final implementation of
The calendar is based on many ideas from diverse sources, including from RÚV and
The Moomins, as well as Pinterest, were used to spark ideas for
execution and appearance. The Christmas calendar on RÚV, which was shown when Sandra herself was
Her upbringing is particularly memorable, and it could be said that the ideology, among other things, on
behind that calendar, setting the tone for the Alfabergs' language-stimulation and Christmas calendar. In
The RÚV Christmas calendar featured something familiar from the programmes that were shown.
on RÚV at that time. Therefore, the idea arose to make a calendar that would be both entertaining
and familiar for the children with a strong connection to the project and work on
at nursery school. An evening read with my son about the Mumin Trolls' Christmas festivities then pushed it even further.
Rather than this vision and conceptual work, the book describes how
The Moomins decorate an outdoor Christmas tree with all sorts of little things from around the home.,
little things that they owned and packed themselves. A thought that is beautiful and good and very
environmentally friendly.

Cardboard units, toilet rolls and ground almonds

The language stimulation and Christmas calendar is truly also
Environmentally friendly and is based precisely on the philosophy of participation and connection.
The calendar consists of cardboard from shelving units, toilet rolls and expired
almond flour. The cardboard was used as a base for the Christmas tree and the 24 presents.
wrapped up with toilet rolls. In the parcels is familiar stuff from the department and on
Each day, one child opens a present and shows the surprise to their classmates.,
describes him in her own words and connects him to a playground of joy. The almond flour got
so a afterlife as brown troll clay beads on the Christmas tree that the children themselves
used to hang on Christmas decorations. The Christmas tree itself is decorated evenly all the way up.
at Christmas.
