<\/p>\nFrom 1 January 2022, newborn residents of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will receive a symbolic and beautiful gift from their town, or a so-called \u201ecute basket\u201c. The gift is part of an initiative to further establish Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur as a family-friendly community and to welcome newborn residents to the world in a formal and memorable way. 35 new residents of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur have been born since the turn of the year, and it was deemed appropriate that the first resident of the year and the newborn daughter of the 2021 Artist in Residence of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur should receive the first gifts. Mayor R\u00f3sa Gu\u00f0bjartsd\u00f3ttir and Valdimar V\u00ed\u00f0isson, chairman of the Family Council, visited the families and presented them with a gift, flowers and cakes, along with heartfelt congratulations from the City of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Parents of other January babies will receive a message about the gift in the coming days. <\/p>\n
