Severe weather is approaching again, so it is important that people keep a close eye on the weather, road conditions and notifications from the emergency services. An orange weather warning is in effect this afternoon from 16:00 to 19:00, after which a red warning will take effect, lasting from 19:00 to 22:30. People are urged not to be travelling while the red warning is in effect. Strong southeasterly winds or gales are forecast for this afternoon, again late this evening and into the early hours, with gale force winds from 19:00 to 22:30.<\/p>\n

Guidelines on disruption to school activities <\/h4>\n

From 22:30 until 1 a.m., an orange warning will be in effect. From 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow, a yellow and orange warning is in effect for the capital region, with a forecast of a south-westerly storm bringing precipitation to the area until after midday. It is important for parents to familiarise themselves with the guidance on school disruption during the orange warning tomorrow morning. <\/p>\n

Considerable rain or snowfall is expected while the weather passes, and the snow may cause slippery conditions on the roads. Rain and thawing can cause surface water flooding, so efforts should be made to ensure water can reach the drainage system and to prevent water damage. Residents are reminded to check the drains\/storm drains around their properties. Travel disruption is expected, but information on closures on major roads to and from the capital region can be found on the Road Administration's website.
