Sweeping of main streets in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur began today, and spring sweeping within the neighbourhoods will begin tomorrow. Spring sweeping will take place from 1st to 29th April. Pavements will be swept between 1st April and 10th May, island cleaning will take place from 7th to 13th April, and the sweeping and washing of car parks will take place from 25th to 30th April. The washing of main streets is scheduled for early May. Residents are encouraged to take an active part.<\/p>\n
As before, the town is divided into 14 wards, which are signposted the day before collection with a notice of the planned collection. The spring clean begins in the centre of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur on Friday, 1 April, and concludes with the collection of streets in V\u00f6llunum on Friday, 29 April.<\/p>\n
We ask residents to take an active part in the spring clean so that it is as successful as possible. It is essential to have the streets clear of cars on the day of the sweep so that the kerb edges can be swept. Residents and staff of businesses in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur can take the opportunity to sweep around their own premises at the same time. This will make the whole area look much tidier.<\/p>\n
A specific work schedule is followed, which involves sweeping all neighbourhoods between 1 April and 29 April. The schedule is shown on the map below, and residents can use it to plan for the sweeping of their properties and immediate surroundings. The work plan is subject to change, primarily due to weather (frost) and delays with the contractor responsible for the sweeping.<\/p>\n
