Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur residents welcome summer with the first and longest town festival of the year.<\/h4>\n

The culture and participation festival Bjartir dagar begins in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur tomorrow, the last day of winter. The festival begins with third-year students singing in the summer at Thorsplan, the City Artist of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur will be appointed at 5 p.m. in Hafnarborg, and grants for events and cultural activities will be awarded simultaneously. The intimate music festival HEIMA will be held for the seventh time on the last day of winter. The HEIMA festival has established itself as a unique music festival that offers a different experience and greater intimacy than concert-goers and artists are used to. Thirteen families open their homes in the centre of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and give a warm and welcoming reception to the musicians and festival guests. <\/p>\n

Summer celebrated with a variety of festivities <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bjartir dagar is a participation festival and is based on institutions, voluntary organisations, businesses and individuals taking part in creating events throughout the town that are connected to the festival, or taking part in the programmes organised by others. Special emphasis is placed on the participation of children and young people, as the First of May is part of the celebrations. The First of May will be celebrated with a variety of festivities throughout Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, such as birdwatching in H\u00f6f\u00f0ask\u00f3gur, A cross-country run in the heart of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, a festival at St. J\u00f3's Centre for Well-being, an international singing session and pearl stringing, a Scout Mass and a parade. <\/p>\n
