Clean-up Days 2022 \u2013 garden waste skips at the primary school<\/strong><\/p>\n

From 25th to 29th May 2022, a clean-up period will take place in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur under the banner 'CLEAN UP HAFNARFJ\u00d6RDUR', during which residents can dispose of garden waste in a container at every primary school in the town's districts. The containers will be at the schools from 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 25 May until the end of the day on Sunday, 29 May. Residents of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur are encouraged to take advantage of this service or to take their bags directly to Sorpa. Sorpa accepts garden waste free of charge.  <\/p>\n

Let's take an active part and use this service.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Residents are encouraged to use recycled packaging or reusable bags when cleaning. Please note that garden waste must not be put into bags in the bin; instead, the contents of the bags should be emptied directly into the bin.<\/em> It is also advisable, where possible, to collect garden waste in a compost heap in a convenient spot in the garden and use it for composting. Residents in all neighbourhoods of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur are encouraged to take an active part in the clean-up. It is ideal to get to work in the garden, pruning bushes and flowerbeds, in the run-up to and during the clean-up days.<\/p>\n

Duties of landowners<\/strong><\/h4>\n

In light of recent events, special attention is drawn to the fact that landowners are required to keep the growth of trees and shrubs on their land within the property boundaries. Tree growth can cause inconvenience and even danger to pedestrians and motorists. Plot owners are also advised that specific regulations apply to the construction of a boundary wall and fence on the plot, which it is important to familiarise themselves with.<\/p>\n
