Hafnarborg, the Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library and B\u00e6jarb\u00ed\u00f3 are among the more than 100 exhibitions, 400 participants and 250 events taking part in Design March 2022, the country's largest design festival. Photo: Hulda Margr\u00e9t.&nbsp;<\/sup><\/p>\n<h4>Design March extends its reach to Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/h4>\n<p paraid=\"632461314\" paraeid=\"{3c87750c-8451-40d4-8903-2606af3e254c}{193}\">Design March, Iceland's largest design festival, takes place from 4-8 May and extends to Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, where progressive design and innovation bring together exhibitors and visitors. Many hundreds of events, exhibitions, lectures, happenings and installations are on the programme each year, organised by Icelandic designers and architects, companies and institutions. <\/p>\n<h4> <a href=\"https:\/\/bokasafnhafnarfjardar.is\">Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library<\/a> <\/h4>\n<p paraid=\"1777652630\" paraeid=\"{3c87750c-8451-40d4-8903-2606af3e254c}{227}\">Author of the month at Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library is the artist and writer S\u00f3lveig Eva Magn\u00fasd\u00f3ttir who <a href=\"https:\/\/honnunarmars.is\/dagskra\/2022\/geimgrisamamma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opens a comic exhibition<\/a> On the occasion of Design March, on their latest works from the book <a href=\"https:\/\/honnunarmars.is\/dagskra\/2022\/geimgrisamamma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Space Mama Piggy<\/a> on the 5th of May and will also be reading from the work at the opening from 4-6 pm. The graphic novel has previously been presented at Stockholm Fringe, Pittsburgh Fringe, and Reykjav\u00edk Fringe, and has received a grant from Myndstef and the Visual Arts Fund. A 30-page edition sold out in the United States, and the author is now working on a 200-page edition of the work. S\u00f3lveig will also be running a summer course in graphic storytelling and comic writing at Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Library this summer for young artists and teenagers who want to try their hand at this literary form. <\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/baejarbio.is\/\">Town Cinema<\/a><\/h4>\n<p paraid=\"1200615417\" paraeid=\"{6452cdc3-c771-4764-be57-918813a79c19}{34}\"><a href=\"https:\/\/honnunarmars.is\/dagskra\/2022\/id-reykjavik\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ID Reykjavik<\/a> is a new Icelandic brand with furniture and designer products for the home. The product lines are inspired by the architecture and nature of Iceland, but the use of Icelandic lava, combined with other raw materials such as steel, wood, leather and porcelain, gives the products a special elegance and well-deserved attention. B\u00e6jarb\u00ed\u00f3 Hafnarfir\u00f0i opens its doors to visitors and passers-by on <a href=\"https:\/\/honnunarmars.is\/dagskra\/2022\/id-reykjavik\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ID Reykjavik exhibition, 4th-8th May<\/a>. A piece from the line will also be shown at the Epal exhibition, 'Icelandic Design at its Most Colourful'. <\/p>\n<p paraid=\"866580201\" paraeid=\"{6452cdc3-c771-4764-be57-918813a79c19}{70}\"><strong>The opening hours for the exhibition at the B\u00e6jarb\u00ed\u00f3 are as follows:<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wednesday 16-21<\/li>\n<li>Thursday 4-9 pm<\/li>\n<li>Friday 12-21<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 12-5<\/li>\n<li>Sunday 1-5 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/hafnarborg.is\/\">Port city<\/a> <\/h4>\n<p>An exhibition by Fl\u00e9ttan and Krist\u00edn Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir, <a href=\"https:\/\/honnunarmars.is\/dagskra\/2022\/efnisheimur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The material world of rock wool<\/a>, is currently on display in Sverris Hall at Hafnarborg as part of Design March 2022. The exhibition offers an insight into their ongoing material research on Icelandic rock wool, where they explore different methods of transforming it into a new material. <a href=\"https:\/\/honnunarmars.is\/dagskra\/2022\/efnisheimur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Opening of the exhibition 'The Material World of Rockwool'<\/a> will be formally celebrated with an evening opening at the museum on Thursday 5th May from 6-8 pm. A guided tour of the exhibition with the designers will also be offered on Saturday 7th May at 2 pm.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p paraid=\"909566344\" paraeid=\"{6452cdc3-c771-4764-be57-918813a79c19}{149}\"><a href=\"https:\/\/honnunarmars.is\/dagskra\/2022\/snert-a-landslagi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Touch on the landscape<\/a> is the working title of an ongoing doctoral thesis by product designer Tinna Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir, which focuses on harnessing the aesthetic experience in the landscape as a force for change. A namesake exhibition in the main hall of Hafnarborg features works from throughout Tinna's career, but the exhibition's centrepiece is based on her years-long research in H\u00e9\u00f0insfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in the northern part of the Tr\u00f6llaskagi peninsula. <\/p>\n<p paraid=\"490662316\" paraeid=\"{6452cdc3-c771-4764-be57-918813a79c19}{166}\"><a href=\"https:\/\/honnunarmars.is\/dagskra\/2022\/snert-a-landslagi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seminar on the project<\/a> will take place at Hafnarborg on Saturday 7 May from 11 am to 1 pm. The participants in the symposium are Tinna Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir, product designer; Gu\u00f0bj\u00f6rg R. J\u00f3hannesd\u00f3ttir, lecturer at the Iceland Academy of the Arts; and Ald\u00eds Arnard\u00f3ttir, curator and director of Hafnarborg.
