The National Day begins with a flag-hoisting ceremony at Hamrinn at 8 a.m., hosted by the Hraunb\u00faar Scout Association, and concludes with an evening programme in Thorsplani. This evening programme in the heart of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur on the National Day itself returns to the 17th June celebrations this year. Young musicians will perform alongside more experienced ones.<\/p>\n<h4>A national day party that extends its reach far and wide across the town.<\/h4>\n<p>As usual, a varied programme will be on offer in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur on 17th June, a national day celebration that extends its reach throughout the town. Organised festivities will take place at Thorsplan and H\u00f6r\u00f0uvellir.\u00a0\u00a0On Strandgatan, there will be stalls and bouncy castles, and young people from the council's creative summer jobs will be out and about in the town to entertain visitors and passers-by. Steaming hot porridge and a sea swim will be on offer at Langeyrarmelar, a national costume gathering will take place at Flensburg, and residents of Austurgata will be hosting a festival in their street. At V\u00ed\u00f0ista\u00f0at\u00fan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/504130297780366?active_tab=about\">Viking Festival<\/a>&nbsp;which is taking place from 15th to 19th June.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Parade from Flensburg School<\/h4>\n<p>This year, the parade will proceed from Flensburg School down Ring Road, along L\u00e6kjargata and into Strandgata to Thorsplan. The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Pipe Band, the Hraunb\u00faar Scout Group and Vikings will lead the parade.\u00a0 The parade will affect traffic in the area while it is taking place.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Flying the flag on 17th June<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>We encourage residents and businesses in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur to paint the town in the colours of the flag by flying flags in every possible place. Put up flags or place a flag in the nearest window or flowerpot. Afterwards, the Free Church Band invites everyone to dance.<\/li>\n<li>Kiljuhjals's Book Exchange Market<br \/>Invited by Kolbr\u00fan Mar\u00eda M\u00e1sd\u00f3ttir and L\u00e1ra Debar\u00fanu \u00c1rnad\u00f3ttir, hosts of the podcast Kiljuhjals, which will launch this summer as part of Creative Summer Jobs in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, where they encourage people to read, reuse and share books.<\/li>\n<li>Creative summer job street artists play well-chosen songs for passers-by.<br \/>Guitarist Magn\u00fas Trevenen will be on site with his guitar, along with members of the \u00d3h S\u00fa! string quartet under the direction of violist \u00dalfur \u00de\u00f3rarinsson, together with violinist Sindri Kristinsson, will be roaming East Street with their string instruments, playing beautiful tunes for the guests of the East Street Festival.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>2:00 pm The Learning Centre by the Stream<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Brass Band will<br \/>\nplaying light, playful summer music.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>14:00-15:00 Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Church<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Church is offering a festive programme at an open house where Bj\u00f6rn<br \/>\nThoroddsen, guitarist and artist in residence of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, performs Icelandic<br \/>\npop gems, folk songs and much more in his own unique way. With him<br \/>\nJ\u00f3n Rafnsson on bass and Gu\u00f0mundur Sigur\u00f0sson on piano and organ.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>11:00-17:00 V\u00ed\u00f0ista\u00f0at\u00fan<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Viking Festival in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur takes place in V\u00ed\u00f0ista\u00f0at\u00fan from 15th-19th June and is free to enter. Over 200 Vikings will make their way to Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur from both within and outside the country. The programme is varied and there is plenty going on, including: combat demonstration, craft exhibition, Viking games, wrestling demonstration &amp; instruction, stonemasonry, herbal dyeing, Norse chickens, Viking school for children, various stalls, archery competition, food &amp; drink.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, you will be able to try both archery and axe-throwing for a small fee; all proceeds will go directly to the Viking Festival in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. Rimmug\u00fdgur welcomes you to the festival, which is both the 25th Viking Festival in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the start of Rimmug\u00fdgur's 25th anniversary year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10:00-14:00 <\/strong><strong>Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Flatahrauni Boarding Club&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Open house from 10:00-14:00 at the skate park at Flatahrauni 41. There will also be flags and treats for the children. Everyone is welcome!<br \/>Get Together is a supportive platform for refugees and asylum seekers staying in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. The project is run by volunteers, in partnership with the churches of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the Hafnarborg Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n<h4>14:00-16:00 Blue Light Ride of the Capital Region Fire and Rescue Service<\/h4>\n<p>To mark the occasion, the Capital Region Fire and Rescue Service will be driving through several streets in the municipality with blue lights and the Icelandic flag from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Unfortunately, it is not possible to schedule this precisely, as the fire service is on duty as usual. Let's give them a warm welcome; it's a great opportunity to get out and celebrate.<\/p>\n<h4>2 pm and 3 pm The band Enter name in Hellisger\u00f0i<\/h4>\n<p>Enter name is a one-year-old band from Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. It is made up of five fifteen-year-old boys who have a burning passion for music and fit together like a good film.
