{"id":48837,"date":"2024-02-09T12:47:03","date_gmt":"2024-02-09T12:47:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/?p=48837"},"modified":"2024-02-09T13:52:05","modified_gmt":"2024-02-09T13:52:05","slug":"are-you-a-young-person-interested-in-food-cooking-and-growing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hafnarfjordur.is\/en\/ertu-ungmenni-med-ahuga-a-matarsoun-matvaelagerd-og-raektun\/","title":{"rendered":"Are you a young person with an interest in farming, food production and food waste?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Would you like to come with us to Uppsala in Sweden and discuss human rights issues and the participation of young people in decision-making for their local community?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"internal\" href=\"\/en\/ibuar\/schools-and-children\/youth-house\/ungmennahusin\/the-hammer\/hamarinn-1\/\">The Youth Centre The Hammer<\/a> We are looking for 8 young people aged 16-18, who have a keen interest in human rights and how young people can better influence their local community, to join us for a twinning meeting in Uppsala, Sweden, from 2nd to 7th May.<\/p>\n<p>No travel costs for participants; flights, accommodation and board will be paid for.<\/p>\n<p>This is a golden opportunity to practise putting your ideas into words, to practise communicating them and, last but not least, to meet other young people from all the Nordic countries who share the same goal.<\/p>\n<p>All you need to do is submit a formal application with a 300-word statement explaining why you believe it is important for the voices of young people to be heard, and for their experiences to be taken into account when major decisions are being made for society. The statement can be submitted in writing, on video, as a podcast, or in any format that suits you, in either Icelandic or English.<\/p>\n<p>The application must be submitted by 23 March, which is the day of the Nordic countries, to the email address <a class=\"netfang\" href=\"mailto:mgm@hafnarfjordur.is\">mgm@hafnarfjordur.is<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Further information is available from Magga Gauja on 664 5551, and you can meet her at Hamrin.<\/p>\n<h4>Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur's twin towns can be found all over the world.<\/h4>\n<p>The Municipality of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur has ten twin towns around the world. The twin towns in the Nordic chain of twin towns meet regularly at conferences held every two years.
