The Culture and Tourism Committee of the City of Hafnarfjörður today formally presented the cultural grants for the first allocation of 2019. 22 projects received a grant on this occasion; individuals, cultural groups and organisations, all of which have the common thread of being connected to Hafnarfjörður in one way or another. A pleasant tradition has developed of formally presenting the grants on the last day of winter, or at the same time as the announcement of the year's town artist. The grants from the Culture and Tourism Committee of the City of Hafnarfjörður are awarded twice a year to individuals and projects likely to further enrich and deepen the city's artistic life, with the allocation based on an assessment of the applications. The total amount of grants in this first allocation is kr. 6,080,000. A total of kr. 11,000,000 will be allocated in the form of cultural grants in 2019. On this occasion, the Culture and Tourism Committee proposes entering into three-year partnership agreements with two parties; these agreements will be submitted to the Borough Council for approval. Applications for the second grant round of 2019 will be invited in August.
Hafnarfjörður warmly congratulates all the grant recipients!
