School and leisure staff at Krakkaberg – Setbergsskóli

Setbergsskóli is looking for school and leisure assistants with diverse skills and an interest in working with children at the after-school club, Krakkaberg, for the 2025–2026 school year. The position is 30-50% (%). The working hours are from 13:00 to 16:36, every weekday. 

The after-school club is for pupils in Years 1 to 4 at Setbergsskóli. It offers an opportunity for children to stay on after the school day has finished.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Assistance with professional work with students
  • Works under guidance from the next senior manager.
  • Fosters good discipline and positive communication
  • Participates in the planning, preparation and delivery of a diverse range of leisure activities.
  • Promoting the well-being of young people in partnership with parents and other professionals.
  • To involve as many people as possible, regardless of ability or development, in a variety of activities and to take full part in the activities and events that are organised.
  • Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.

Educational and competency requirements:

  • Experience and interest in working with children an advantage
  • Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness
  • Initiative and autonomy in work methods
  • Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills
  • Interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
  • Punctuality and conscientiousness
  • Good knowledge of Icelandic, at a minimum A2 according to ETM Self-Assessment Framework (coe.int)

A condition of employment is that the applicant has a clean criminal record.

The remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
