Hafnarfjörður Municipality is looking to appoint an energetic department manager to a rewarding role providing services in the homes of disabled people in the outer and inner core areas. This is a 100% full-time, day-shift position. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about their work and serves as a good role model for other staff. The work is carried out according to the Servant-Leadership philosophy, with an emphasis on the rights of people with disabilities.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Responsible for planning, coordination, budgeting, reporting, information dissemination, advice and training.
- Provides staff with training and guidance
- Implements the role and objectives of the unit
- Provides disabled people with support and advice with activities of daily living.
- Takes an active part in development work
- Accounting management
- Acting Director in his absence
- Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Occupational therapy training or other comparable higher education in a recognised professional field that is relevant to the role, e.g. occupational therapy, psychology or social work.
- Knowledge and experience of working with disabled people
- Knowledge of legislation relating to the subject area
- Management experience desirable
- Experience and knowledge of teamwork desirable
- Good computer skills
- Flexibility and interpersonal skills
- Professional ambition in work and an interest in the affairs of disabled people
- Initiative, organisational skills and independence in work methods
- Physical ability to carry out tasks in the workplace
- Icelandic proficiency A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Driving licence a condition
- The condition is that the person has a clean criminal record.

The salary is in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Staff Association of Hafnarfjörður.
