Hafnarfjörður is looking to hire dynamic and enthusiastic staff for summer relief cover at a short-stay facility for young people with disabilities, located in the Setbergshverfi district.

A varied and exciting job opportunity is available in shift work. The position is 80-90%, or by arrangement, and requires the successful candidate to be able to work morning, evening, night and weekend shifts. The work is carried out according to a concept. Servant leadership.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Providing service users with support with activities of daily living
  • Follow plans and procedures
  • Striving to enhance the quality of life and independence of disabled people and to promote their empowerment.
  • Encourage and support service users in self-help and social activity.
  • General household chores
  • Have fun at work and be a role model for others
  • Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.

Competency requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role is an advantage.
  • Interest in the affairs of disabled people
  • Service-mindedness and positivity at work
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, conscientiousness and the ability to work under pressure
  • Independent working methods and responsibility in the job
  • Ability to adopt new approaches and standardised working methods
  • Knowledge of Icelandic is a requirement.
  • Physical ability to carry out tasks in the workplace

The condition is that the person has reached the age of 20 and has a clean criminal record.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
