At Skarðshlíðarskóli, we have enthusiastic and fun-loving pupils, a dedicated staff, and a strong parent body. We emphasise a good working atmosphere, team teaching, varied teaching methods, SMT school skills, and ensuring all pupils achieve good results in play and work. Mílan is an integral part of the school's work, which involves pupils and staff going outside daily to walk, jog or run for 15 minutes.

The implementation of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) began in the autumn of 2020. UDL provides students with the opportunity to learn in different ways and to demonstrate their skills in different ways. Students are active and have an influence on their own learning.

Skarðshlíðarskóli er heildstæður grunnskóli með nemendur í 1. til 10.bekk. Nú eru um 530 nemendur í skólanum. Skólahúsnæðið er glæsilegt og er skólinn vel tækjum búinn, með íþróttahús, útibú frá Tónlistarskóla Hafnarfjarðar og fjögurra deilda leikskóli í samtengdu skólahúsnæði. Í haust hefst öflugt samstarfsverkefni milli leik, grunn og tónlistarskóla.

Key responsibilities and duties:

• Tónmenntakennsla í leikskólanum í sama húsnæði
• Forskólatími í sama húsnæði
• Halda utan um samstarfsverkefni leik-, grunn- og tónlistarskólans
• Participate in the development of a new school community in collaboration with the management.
• Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.

Competency requirements:

• Teaching licence (a licence must accompany the application)
• Haldgóð þekking á kennslufræði tónmenntakennslu
• Tónlistarmenntun sem nýtist í starfi
• Proficiency in a variety of teaching methods, curriculum adaptation and integration.
• Interest in working with children and young people
• Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness
• Initiative and autonomy in work methods
• Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
• Punctuality and conscientiousness
• Very good knowledge of Icelandic, to a minimum of C1 in accordance with ETM Self-Assessment Framework (coe.int)
