This is based on the continuous years of service an employee has with the municipality. On their 15-year service anniversary, the department or institution organises a coffee reception for the staff member, and as a token of appreciation, the employee receives a book, a handicraft or a work of art as a gift, in addition to flowers. Once a year, in the spring, the mayor organises a joint coffee reception for those who have reached 25 years of service. At this event, they are presented with a certificate of appreciation, a bouquet of flowers and a gift voucher for 50,000 króna. In total, 45 individuals who have been employed for 25-40 years, or for a combined 1,316 years, were present.
