Opening ceremony at Skarðshlíðarskóli
There was great joy at Skarðshlíðarskóli when pupils, teachers and other guests formally opened the school. The school's Year 4 class sang songs at the opening, and pupils from Years 4 and 5 recited a poem about their school. The roof was then nearly blown off the new school when the Hafnarfjörður jester, Jón Jónsson, turned up and performed a few songs.

School poem
Skarðshlíðarskóli is my school.
It's good to be there
I want to be there for a while
There's a lot to do here.
We read, write and learn many things.
And let's play together
The staff are really smart.
We're having a lot of fun.
Milan improves our strength
And lightens our spirits.
We are active in our community.
And have a good time.
At school we learn to conjugate verbs.

Cooperation, friendship and perseverance
