Hundreds of children took part in the cross-country run.

The annual Hafnarfjörður Cross-Country Race took place on the first day of summer, 25th April, in Víðistaðatún. There were around four hundred competitors in 12 categories, with the largest turnout in the youngest age groups. Competitors came from all the town's sports clubs, and many promising runners were taking their first steps there.

Birta Þöll Sveinbjörnsdóttir was the first woman to finish in the 15 and over category, and Hörður Halldórsson was the first man in the 15 and over category. The weather was very good during the race. The athletics section of FH organised the race. Prizes were provided by the City of Hafnarfjörður, and all competitors received a prize medal, while the first competitors to finish in each category received trophy cups. The competition was fierce and good in all categories.
