New exhibitions at Hafnarborg

On Friday 30 August at 8 pm, two new exhibitions will open at Hafnarborg: All at the Same Time, Hafnarborg's autumn exhibition, curated by Andrea Arnarsdóttir and Starkaður Sigurðarson, and on the other hand, Prison, a new installation by the artists Olga Bergmann and Anna Hallin.

The idea behind Hafnarborg's autumn exhibition this year, Everything at the same time, is to explore how
Artists are grappling with the freedom found in visual art today. How it is possible
to create meaning from art which can be anything, a painting,
children's toy, papier-mâché, movement, idea, opera, gifs. Works will be shown in
different media, from oil painting to performance art, and an attempt to combine them
They disseminated ideas found in contemporary visual art.

The artists taking part in the exhibition are Audur Loa Gudnadottir, Baldvin Einarsson, Bára Bjarnadóttir, Rúnar Örn
Marinósson
, Sigrún Gyða Sveinsdóttir,
Steingrímur Gauti Ingólfsson and Valgerður Sigurðardóttir. Everything at the same time is the ninth show in
Hafnarborg's autumn exhibition series, where the curator's idea is selected from
submitted proposals.

Installation of Olga Bergmann and Anna Hallin, Prison, is based on their experience with
creation of artworks for the Hólmsheiði prison. They consider ideas about
surveillance and deprivation of liberty with references to „mise en abyme“, or the phenomenon
„picture within a picture“, as a kind of symbol of a closed community within
of society. There, the residents stand outside the all-encompassing surveillance society.
modern, in which most people participate of more or less willing and free will,
unlike the prison community and the strict internal control that prevails there
