Service Agreement with Hafnarfjörður Volleyball Club
The City of Hafnarfjörður and the Hafnarfjörður Volleyball Club signed a service agreement during Advent, covering all the services the club provides to residents of Hafnarfjörður and the contribution from the City of Hafnarfjörður towards these services. The club, which was previously part of the general department of Haukar, is now independent.
In the run-up to Christmas, the City of Hafnarfjörður and the Hafnarfjörður Volleyball Club signed a service agreement covering all the services the club provides to residents of Hafnarfjörður and the contribution from the City for these services. Today, the adult section of the club is very active, and there is also a growing emphasis on its youth work. 15-20 children and young people, aged 18 and under, train regularly with the club. The club, which was previously part of the public section of Haukar, is now independent.
The contribution will increase in line with the increase in the number of members aged 18 and under.
The agreement increases the Hafnarfjörður Volleyball Club's access to sports halls, which in turn opens up opportunities for expansion and strengthening. The club will thus be allocated time in the sports facilities available to the municipality at any given time. The amount of time to be allocated is decided by the Sports and Leisure Committee, and the allocated time is distributed between the member clubs by ÍBH – the Hafnarfjörður Sports Association – which ensures that the distribution is fair. The City of Hafnarfjörður's contribution today is approximately 400,000 króna per year, and this contribution will increase in line with the growth in the number of under-18 participants. Overall, the City of Hafnarfjörður's collaboration with the sports clubs in the municipality takes into account the value of sports participation for educational and preventative work. The aim of the City of Hafnarfjörður is to ensure that all residents have the opportunity to take part in sports under the most favourable conditions, regardless of their families' financial situation.
