The flag is now flying at full mast on Hafnarfjörður Town Hall to mark the occasion that the Hafnarfjörður-born Hildur Guðnadóttir won an Oscar last night for her music in the film Joker, thereby becoming the first Icelandic person to receive this prestigious Academy Award. Hildur has recently won sought-after and prestigious awards for her music for Joker and the television series Chernobyl.
