Little Ratleikur – an Easter gift for the residents and friends of Hafnarfjörður
The Little Rat Game is a free game that encourages walks around the town. All you need is a smartphone and you can take part at any time.
The health town of Hafnarfjörður and Hönnunarhúsið ehf. have joined forces during the lockdown and released a Little Scavenger Hunt for the first time. The Little Race of Hafnarfjörður is intended as an incentive for outdoor activities in and around the town of Hafnarfjörður. It differs from the large Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt in that there are no scavenger hunt markers or maps on site, but it can be undertaken at any time and the main information about the locations can be found on ratleikur.fjardarfrettir.is.
There are already fifteen locations in the small scavenger hunt and if there is interest, more locations may be added, and all suggestions are welcome. The aim of the game is to lead participants far and wide around Hafnarfjörður during lockdown, encouraging residents to enjoy the outdoors and nature in their local area over the Easter period. Most of the locations are within the town, but there are also several spots near Hvaleyrarvatn.
Guðni Gíslason is the creator of the scavenger hunt, but it is Hönnunarhúsið ehf. that publishes the game online in collaboration with the health town of Hafnarfjörður. Everyone can take part and participants are encouraged to take photos of themselves at the scavenger hunt stations and share them on social media with the hashtag # Little Rat Game.
Guðni Gíslason, manager of the Little Rat Race, has been organising the Hafnarfjörður Rat Race since 2007.
„The scavenger hunt is an ideal family activity for residents and friends of Hafnarfjörður, and a great idea for something to do locally over the Easter period at your own pace,“ says Geir Bjarnason, the sports and youth representative for Hafnarfjörður. „I encourage everyone to check out the little scavenger hunt and discover the many exciting places our local area has to offer.“
The steering group of Healthy Town of Hafnarfjörður encourages residents to take part in a new and fun treasure hunt in and around the town.
