Ásvallalaug and Sundhöll Hafnarfjarðar will reopen on Monday, 18th May, and will operate their usual opening hours with a few additions. The Suðurbær Pool, however, will not open immediately due to extensive maintenance work. Pool-goers are still asked to follow all social distancing rules and to understand that, to begin with, only 50% of the maximum capacity will be allowed in each pool. If the easing of restrictions by the authorities regarding the swimming pools goes well, the maximum capacity will increase to 75% on 2 June and to 100% on 15 June. The 2-metre social distancing rule is optional, and guests are asked to observe it as much as possible and not to stay for longer than 1.5-2 hours per swim.
Temporary closure if maximum capacity is reached
At each swimming venue, the number of people in the pools will be counted to ensure that the number in each space does not exceed the calculated maximum, based on the size of the venue and the government department's decision on the maximum number of people in the same space at any one time. Temporary closure of the pool and possibly certain areas will take place if the maximum number of guests is reached. Children born in 2015 and later are not included in the guest count. From Monday, 18th May, you will be able to view real-time occupancy figures for each swimming pool on the council's website, under information about the swimming pools.
