The deadline for nominations is 19 August!
Time is running out to submit nominations for the 2020 Tidy-Up Competition. At the beginning of the summer, the City of Hafnarfjörður advertised for nominations from residents and other interested parties for awards for beautiful and well-maintained gardens, streets, open spaces or institutional grounds in Hafnarfjörður. The selection for the awards is based solely on the nominations submitted.
In mid-summer, the programme Garden Stroll in Hafnarfjörður premiered on the television channel N4. In the programme, we got to see three beautiful private gardens in Hafnarfjörður as well as Hellisgerði, our public park. All three of these gardens have received an award for their tidiness. The town's environmental and resource policy was also covered, with interviews conducted with Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, the Mayor, and Helga Ingólfsdóttir, Chair of the Environment and Operations Committee.

Who is the role model at HEIMA in Hafnarfjörður?
These awards are intended to set a certain standard in this area, in both residential and commercial areas. Through this, the City of Hafnarfjörður aims to raise public interest in the beautification of the local environment by drawing attention to those who serve as role models in environmental matters in Hafnarfjörður and should thus inspire others to take action.
An awards ceremony will be held in August.
It is very important that residents and businesses are encouraged and rewarded for good stewardship and a tidy environment. Awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Þöll Nursery on Kaldárselsveg at the end of August. Send your nomination to: berglindg@hafnarfjordur.is. It is also possible to send a picture and nomination via Hafnarfjörður's feedback portal.
