Artists of the Year 2021 exhibit at Hafnarborg
Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafsson received the 2021 Art Prize, as Artists of the Year, for the work In Search of Magic: A Proposal for a New Constitution for the Republic of Iceland.
On Saturday 20th March, the exhibition will be The Magic Meeting – a decade later opened at Hafnarborg by the Spanish-Icelandic art duo and recipients of the 2021 Icelandic Art Award, Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson, together with the adaptable artist and activist collective, The Magic Team. It is now ten years since the artists last held a solo exhibition at Hafnarborg, then based on the 1944 constitution, and it is also a decade since the proposal for a new constitution for Iceland was drafted.

Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafsson received the Art Prize of the Year 2021 for the work: In Search of Magic – A Proposal for a New Constitution for the Republic of Iceland. The exhibition is based on a performance by the artists and the Magic Team, which took place at the Reykjavík Art Museum, in the streets of the city centre, at the Government Offices and the Althingi building, on 3 October last.
The opening is taking place from 12 - 17. and musical performances related to the exhibition will be on the programme regularly throughout the day. Visitors are asked to wear masks and observe social distancing.
