Spring sweeping of streets within the neighbourhoods of Hafnarfjörður is now complete, but sweeping of pavements and footpaths is still ongoing. Sweeping and high-pressure washing of the main streets in the town of Hafnarfjörður began last week and will be completed this week. Work is therefore being carried out diligently to promote a cleaner environment and better air quality. High-pressure washing of main roads is a new initiative for the City of Hafnarfjörður, as until now only traffic islands have been washed with high pressure after neighbourhood cleaning has been completed.

Sweeping and washing of main streets is underway as scheduled.

Hafnarfjörður Council is responsible for sweeping and washing the main roads, with the exception of Reykjavíkurvegur, Fjarðargata and Strandgata, which are maintained by the Road Administration. These streets will be swept and washed over the next two weeks. The sweeping and washing this spring has gone well, thanks to the active participation of residents. The town was divided into 14 districts, and the districts were signposted the day before sweeping with a notice of the planned work.

Clean town, we love you!
