The 'Walk to School' project starts on Wednesday, 8th September for the fifteenth time and will formally conclude with the international Walk to School Day on Wednesday, 6th October. The aim of the project is to encourage children to adopt an active way of travelling to and from school and to increase their ability to travel safely in traffic.

We walk for Iskolann 2020

Participants in over 40 countries

Every year, millions of children in over 40 countries across the world take part in Walk to School in one way or another. In this country, participation has grown steadily and, in the first year, there were 26 participating schools, but a total of 75 schools had signed up for the event in 2020. On the project's website – www.gongumiskolann.is – you can find all the detailed information about the project, where you can, among other things, find some fun examples of how a number of schools in Iceland have implemented the project, as well as various other material from the participating schools.

Let's go to school

The Healthy Town of Hafnarfjörður encourages all schools in Hafnarfjörður, parents and children to actively participate in the project next month! It's healthy and good to walk to school!
