Public consultation on proposals for local plan amendments in the centre of Hafnarfjörður

Presentation of proposals for local plan amendments
A public information meeting has been called to consider proposals for planning changes in the centre of Hafnarfjörður. This concerns, on the one hand, a presentation of a proposal to amend the detailed plan „Hafnarfjörður Town Centre – Plot 1“. The other is a proposal for a zoning plan amendment for the plot at 26-30 Strandgata. The deadline for comments on both proposals has been extended to 31 August. At the meeting, the planners will present the proposals. Thorvaldur Sveinsson, the planning officer, will open the meeting and act as chair.
The number of participants in the room is based on government guidelines regarding capacity limits and distancing requirements. All attendees are kindly requested to wear a face mask.

Hafnarfjörður Town Centre – Strandgata 26-30. Local Plan Amendment on Exhibition
At a meeting of the Hafnarfjörður Town Council on 23 June 2021, it was resolved to advertise a proposal for a local plan amendment affecting the plot at 26-30 Strandgata, and for the matter to be processed in accordance with the first paragraph of Article 43 of the Planning Act. The proposed amendment provides for a change in the building mass on the plot, along with a mixed-use development including retail, service and hotel operations. The proposal was on public display on the City of Hafnarfjörður's website, at the service centre at Strandgata 6, and at the Department of Environment and Planning at Norðurhæð 2, from 02.07. – 31.08.2021.
Hafnarfjörður Town Centre – Plot 1. Detailed Plan Amendment on Public Display
At the meeting of the Planning and Building Committee of Hafnarfjörður on 29 June, the following was considered and approved: „A proposal for a revised detailed plan for the centre of Hafnarfjörður was presented. The amendment applies to the area bounded by Strandgata, Reykjavíkurvegur, Austurgata and Linnetsstígur. The changes include, amongst other things, an alteration to building permits from 2001.“ The application was approved and referred to the town council. The Town Council, acting on behalf of the City Council, confirmed the decision of the Planning and Building Committee at its meeting on 1 July. The proposals, together with the accompanying documents, are available for public inspection on the City of Hafnarfjörður website, at the Service Centre at Strandgata 6, and at the Environment and Planning Department at Norðurhæð 2, from 15 July to 31 August 2021.
The deadline for comments on both proposals has been extended until 31 August. Those who believe they have an interest are given the opportunity to make comments on the proposal for „Hafnarfjörður Town Centre – Plot 1“ by 31 August 2021.
