At the meeting of the Hafnarfjörður Town Council yesterday It was decided to enter into a contract with the highest bidder based on their offer. The highest bidder is Byggingarfélag Gylfa og Gunnars hf., who met all the conditions set for applicants for the plot. BYGG was founded in 1984 and over the years has built more than 3,000 flats, as well as thousands of square metres of industrial and office premises in the capital region.  BYGG is currently completing the development of eight small houses with a total of 36 flats in Skarðshlíð, where residents will be moving in shortly. The first sod for BYGG's development in Hamranes was cut in February 2021, where four houses with a total of 75 flats are currently under construction.

The first residents are expected to move in by the end of 2023.

Site preparation works are scheduled to begin shortly. A site facility for staff will be set up, along with a fence and gate. Working hours will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and every effort will be made to ensure that residents of this established neighbourhood of Hafnarfjörður are caused as little inconvenience as possible.  If the development proceeds smoothly, it is anticipated that all fencing will be removed in the summer of 2023, with the first residents moving in by the end of 2023.
