The ice rink opens this weekend!
From Saturday, 11th December until January, the City of Hafnarfjörður, in collaboration with Bæjarbíó, will have a 200-square-metre ice rink in the car park directly behind Bæjarbíó. The rink, which has been named the Heart Rink, is a fantastic addition to the festive town of Hafnarfjörður and will further connect the Christmas Village in the town centre, the restaurants and shops in the heart of Hafnarfjörður, and the light display in Hellisgerði. The Heart Slope is great fun, an experience and exercise for the whole family. .

The Heart Rink is a fantastic activity, experience and opportunity for exercise for the whole family. The dance group Dass took the first run on the rink today.
The Heart Ice is 100% environmentally friendly, as neither water nor electricity is used to freeze the ice, and the production process is also environmentally friendly. The production is backed by extensive research and development of a manufacturing process that minimises both energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The ice is built on specially designed ice plates that have the same properties as regular ice.

An operating agreement between the City of Hafnarfjörður and Bæjarbíó was signed on the Heart Slab during the slab's installation yesterday. The Town Council approved an operating agreement for an ice rink in the centre of Hafnarfjörður at its meeting on 2 December.
Important information for all interested parties
- The ice rink is open from 13:00 to 20:00 every day. (outside of public holidays)
- Free skating from 13:00 to 15:00 every weekday – controlled access and no booking.
- Each skating session is 50 minutes and starts on the hour.
- A skating trip is booked on tix.is – The Heart Swell – skates can also be hired for those who do not own any.
- Those who do not own skates can hire them on-site or when booking the skating tour. tix.is – The Heart Swell
- Anyone bringing their own skates must have them sharpened on-site.
- Please remember to arrive in good time to avoid queues.
- Hot chocolate and cream, juice and light refreshments will be served by the ice rink.
- Only 40 people can get on the ice rink each hour.
