COVID-19 rapid tests available in Hafnarfjörður

From tomorrow, Friday 17 December, rapid COVID-19 tests will be available in Hafnarfjörður. In collaboration with the City of Hafnarfjörður, TestCovid.is, which is part of the Security Centre, has set up a rapid testing station at Reykjavíkurvegur 76. The rapid testing station will be larger and will be able to handle up to 1,000 tests per day. It will be open daily from 8 am to 4 pm, and bookings are already open at Test for COVID-19

The Security Centre is one of the companies that operates rapid testing centres in the capital region, having conducted tens of thousands of rapid tests at three testing sites. The site at Reykjavikurvegur 76 is the fourth. These are so-called antigen rapid tests, and results are usually available within half an hour of the test being taken. The results of such tests are a requirement for all gatherings of 50 or more people during the current restrictions on public events. Furthermore, a negative test result may be required for travel to certain countries.

About the Testcovid.is rapid test

• The Clinitest rapid test from Siemens has demonstrated 99.22% reliability.
• The test is certified by the Ministry of Health and is carried out in collaboration with the Molecular Laboratory.
• The test is free
• You can choose from four locations. – the latest addition is in Hafnarfjörður
• Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your booked appointment.
• The rapid test and the wait for the result take about 15-30 minutes.
• The QR code is sent by email and must be shown on-site when you arrive for the rapid test.
• Under 15s must be accompanied by a guardian.
