Week 6 – annual sexual health campaign
Week 6 is based on a Danish concept and is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of sexual health and sex education for children and young people. The young people themselves decided the theme of the week by taking part in a survey during the preparations.

Week 6 It is based on a Danish concept and is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of sexual health and sex education for children and young people. The City of Reykjavík has run the week for three years in a row, and this year more municipalities are jumping on the bandwagon with the aim of getting as many people as possible to take part. Hafnarfjörður is among these municipalities. The young people themselves decided the theme of the week by taking part in a survey during the preparations. This year, the theme is sex and culture, and all staff who work with children and young people are encouraged to prioritise sexual health this week. Parents are also encouraged to take part in the week by having meaningful and positive conversations with their children. You can never have enough conversations about sexual health.
Learning to recognise and communicate one's own boundaries and those of others
In Hafnarfjörður, many schools, all community centres, youth centres and the Hafnarfjörður Library are actively taking part in the week. The programme and education are decided at each individual venue, and the imagination has been allowed to run wild. The week in Hafnarfjörður will be characterised by illustrative content, education, and easy access to all relevant material, including books and podcasts. Creation and creativity also play a part, as some have decided to bead, for example, genitalia, and even decorate cakes with body parts. The aim of open discussion and good education is for our children and young people to learn to recognise and communicate their own boundaries and those of others. Parents and/or guardians are also encouraged to take the opportunity to talk with their children.
