The singing competition for Hafnarfjörður's youth clubs was held at the town's cinema on 9 March.
A group of young musicians took part and the competition was quite fierce, and the choice was anything but simple for the judges, the singer Klara Ósk Elíasdóttir, Andri Ómarsson, Cultural and Marketing Projects Manager for Hafnarfjörður, and Helena Guðjónsdóttir, a music teacher at Skarðshlíðarskóli.
There was a great atmosphere in the house and it was lovely to get together again for an event like this, as last year the event was held online with no audience.
The youth clubs of Hafnarfjörður have held Hafnarfjörður Singing Competition for many years. It gives teenagers the opportunity to perform and sing in front of their peers and townspeople. Winners Hafnarfjörður Singing Competition earn a place in Samfés singing competition which will be held at the end of April. Many of our finest musicians have made their debut in that competition.
Hafnarfjörður has two places in the Samfés Song Contest, and so two songbirds were chosen in first place as representatives for Hafnarfjörður. It should be noted that the winner in Samfés Singing Competition 2021 It was Viktoría Tómasdóttir from Vitanum in Lækjarskóli.
