Allocation of a plot at Ásvellir 3

At the town council meeting on 23rd March, it was approved to allocate the plot of land at Ásvellir 3 to Byggingafélag Gylfa og Gunnars hf. (BYGG) for the construction of up to 110 flats. The plot was advertised for allocation on 27 December, and bids were to be submitted by 28 January.

A total of 10 bids were received for the plot, which was advertised with a minimum price of kr. 447,919,120. The lowest bid was kr. 564 million and the highest was kr. 1,325.5 million. The bids were opened in the presence of the bidders on the same day the deadline for submissions expired. Following an evaluation of the submitted bids, the town council unanimously decided to award the plot to Byggingarfélag Gylfa og Gunnars hf., who had the second-highest bid for the plot, at 1.277 billion króna.

A block of flats with 100-110 flats

The plot permits the construction of a block of flats with 2-5 storeys, totalling 100-110 flats. Parking can be partly provided in a single-storey car park. This is a unique and well-located plot in the established and popular Velli district, adjacent to the Haukar sports centre at Ásvellir, opposite Ásvallalaug. Site preparation works are scheduled to begin shortly. Facilities for site staff will be installed, along with a fence and a gate. Working hours will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and every effort will be made to ensure that residents of this established Hafnarfjörður neighbourhood are disturbed as little as possible. If the development proceeds smoothly, it is anticipated that all fencing will be removed in the summer of 2023 and that the first residents will move in before Christmas 2023.
