Candidacy deadline for the 2022 local elections

The deadline for nominations for the municipal elections in Hafnarfjörður, to be held on Saturday, 14 May 2022, is 12 noon on Friday, 8 April. On that day, the Returning Officer will be based at Hafnarfjörður Town Council Chamber, Strandgata 6, 2nd floor. Height from 10 am – 12 pm and receive nomination papers.
Each nomination list shall be accompanied by:
- Confirmation of the registered name and list symbol of new political parties
- A declaration by all those on the list that they have permitted their names to be placed on the list, signed in their own hand or with a valid electronic signature.
- Names of two representatives
- List of referees – a minimum of 80 referees
- It is requested that the representatives of the candidates also submit a list of their supporters in a digital format as an Excel file.
The Returning Officer will hold a meeting at the same place. Saturday, 9th April, at 11:00 a.m. to decide on the candidates and the electoral list. in the presence of representatives of the electoral lists. The Returning Officer draws attention to the provisions of Chapters VII and X of the Electoral Act No. 112/2021 concerning the specific requirements for candidates and representatives.
