Let's take an active part and use this service.
Residents are encouraged to use recycled packaging or reusable bags when cleaning. Please note that garden waste must not be put into bags in the bin; instead, the contents of the bags should be emptied directly into the bin. It is also advisable, where possible, to collect garden waste in a compost heap in a convenient spot in the garden and use it for composting. Residents in all neighbourhoods of Hafnarfjörður are encouraged to take an active part in the clean-up. It is ideal to get to work in the garden, pruning bushes and flowerbeds, in the run-up to and during the clean-up days.
Duties of landowners
In light of recent events, special attention is drawn to the fact that landowners are required to keep the growth of trees and shrubs on their land within the property boundaries. Tree growth can cause inconvenience and even danger to pedestrians and motorists. Plot owners are also advised that specific regulations apply to the construction of a boundary wall and fence on the plot, which it is important to familiarise themselves with.
