Cultural and event grants in the wake of Covid

The application deadline has been extended to 6 May 2022. 

The Town Council is announcing special event and cultural grants, made available following Covid-19. The deadline for applications is 6th May, and the grants will be allocated by the Town Council. 

Applicants must have a connection to Hafnarfjörður in some way. For example, through the applicant's permanent residence, by the event or project being supported taking place in Hafnarfjörður, and/or by including a promotion of something related to the municipality.

Applications must be submitted electronically via My pages | Other applications | Application for a grant to the town council. In addition to general information, the following must be included in the application:

• Objectives, description and justification of the application
• Grant amount
• Time and Work Schedule
• Further funding
• Cost estimate

Bright days in Hafnarfjörður all summer long

The Bjartir dagar cultural festival will be held in Hafnarfjörður all summer. The festival will be the highlight of a variety of celebrations taking place throughout the town, which will delight residents and visitors alike and reflect the diverse cultural life of Hafnarfjörður. In a normal year, this first town festival of its kind in the country lasts for five days, but it has been decided that the festival, which begins on the last day of winter with the selection of a Hafnarfjörður town artist, the awarding of cultural grants and a summer concert by students, will run throughout the summer, and the grants are intended, among other things, to fund events and happenings across the town this summer. It is important that the projects appeal to a broad cross-section of people and that many get to enjoy them.
