Hraunvallaskolinn has reached the final of Skólahreysti.

Hraunvallaskóli secured their place in the final of Skólahreysti yesterday after a hard-fought competition.

Í School Fitness Pupils in the country's primary schools compete against each other in various events that test the competitors' power, strength and endurance. Pupils in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools have taken an active part in Skólahreysti, with great success. After five heats of Skólahreysti in spring 2022, Hraunvallaskóli is among the five schools that have reached the final. On 4 May, schools from East and North Iceland will go head-to-head.  

Two adventure trails in Hafnarfjörður – the opportunity to train in the right environment 

Two adventure playgrounds have been set up in Hafnarfjörður in recent years. A large track at Hörðuvelli and another smaller one at Skarðshlíðarskóli. The course at Hörðuvellir has 11 stations, including the start and finish lines, and features a net obstacle, a pipe obstacle, a monkey bars obstacle, a tyre obstacle, a rope tower, a skipping obstacle, a stone obstacle, a sack obstacle and a crawling obstacle. All these obstacles are designed to promote the development of stamina, strength and agility, and involve climbing, running and jumping, among other things. The primary school competition, Skólahreysti, takes place on a course similar to the one at Hörðuvellir. 

The health town of Hafnarfjörður installed the track in the summer of 2020, and it has been well-used. The idea is that the track is used both for the regular training of residents and friends of Hafnarfjörður of all ages, and for preparation and training for competitions such as Skólahreysti.
