Great excitement for the coming summer – the local environment and the nursery garden

This year, the group was incredibly excited for the coming summer and its adventures, and it was clear that for many families, after a long wait, the call of foreign countries was strong this summer. The local area and the nursery garden are very dear to the group, especially the adventure playground, where they feel that the standard of cleanliness could be much improved. They are calling for more rubbish bins, signs with rules for proper conduct, and benches and tables for the parents who want to accompany them to the area and be with them. The group made a lovely request to repair the outdoor shelter and facilities in Tröllaskógur, which is heavily used by the nursery children. There was also great excitement about getting a boat or a car for the park, in addition to the existing play equipment. All of the group's suggestions have already been passed on.

Annual yet unique graduation exhibition

Immediately following the children's visit to the mayor, the mayor visits the children at the nursery and gets to see and experience the year's graduation show, which is always the same yet unique, as it is conceived and designed with the graduating group each time. For over 20 years, the tradition has been for the nursery's graduating class to put on a show that reflects and showcases the buildings the children themselves decide to feature each time, based on their field trips around the town.  The children all come up with suggestions for a name for their town, and this year the most popular names were Flower Town, Cherry Town and Troll Town. A proper vote was held for the name, with 20 children on the electoral roll. The name Flower Town received the most votes. These reciprocal visits are always great fun, and the children are very enthusiastic about the project and the mayor's work.
