Outdoor Hammer returns on 7 September

Úti-Hamarinn is a project run by Hamarinn, aimed at introducing young people to the local nature and various outdoor activities. An information meeting will be held at Hamarinn on Wednesday, 31st August at 8 p.m., and the first get-together will be on Wednesday, 7th September. 

Úti-Hamarinn is a project that is under supervision Hamar's, the youth centre of Hafnarfjörður and aims to introduce young people aged 16-25 to various outdoor activities and the nature surrounding the capital region. An information meeting will be held at Hamran. Wednesday 31 August at 8 pm The first meeting will be on Wednesday, 7th September. The time and location will be announced later, as they depend on the weather and the number of participants. 

The organisers are open to new ideas and new places – get involved! 

The project is funded by the Public Health Fund and is run in partnership with Flensborg School. There is no cost to participate, apart from clothing and a packed lunch, which are the participants' responsibility. The supervisors are Margrét Gauja Magnúsdóttir, Manager of Youth Centres and Guide, and Stella Björg Kristinsdóttir, Manager of Leisure Activities and Prevention Officer. The weather will always be taken into account when deciding what will be done that week. If the weather forecast is very poor, educational sessions or a film night will be held instead. The following ideas will be used in Úti-Hamrinn: walks to Búrfellsgjá, Stórhöfði, Arnarvatn, Úlfarsfell, Helgafell in Mosó, Helgafell in Hafnarfjörður, Fagradalsfjall (volcano eruption), Esjan, Hengill, a glacier walk on Sólheimajökull, visiting the sailing club Þytur and going kayaking, etc. The Hafnarfjörður Rescue Squad will also have a stand. The organisers are also open to new locations and new ideas.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend the information meeting. Wednesday, 31st August, at 17:00 í at the youth centre Hamrinn, 14 Suðurgata in Hafnarfjörður.
