Saturday, 29th August at 2 p.m. We welcome you to an artist and curator talk with Gabi Schillig and Hildi Elísu Jónsdóttur, who have works in the autumn exhibition at Hafnarborg the margin, and the curators Katrín Björg Gunnarsdóttir and Ulfi Bragi Einarsson. Together, they will guide visitors through the exhibition and discuss the ideas behind it, as well as Gabi and Hildur Elísa talking about their own art and how their work engages with the pastime. The conversation will be in Icelandic and English.

Attention is paid particularly to the exhibition space itself and its role in curation – to the possibilities that lie in the unseen or the forgotten, in the void that is in fact never empty. The architecture thus not only provides a framework for the works but also becomes an active part in shaping the exhibition. Conventional exhibition design often focuses on central points and the viewer's line of sight, but here the focus is particularly on the periphery, where the nooks, crannies and other less prominent surfaces of the gallery space are brought to the fore and given added importance in the overall exhibition experience.

In the exhibition, six artists are in direct dialogue with the gallery space. They work with different media but all have in common that they engage with the space, whether through material, concept or installation. Thus, space itself becomes the subject of the exhibition, both as a physical space and a concept.
The artists are Daníel Ágúst Ágústsson, Gabi Schillig, Hildur Elísa Jónsdóttir, Iyo Hasegawa, Joe Keys and Shiori Ono. The curators are Katrín Björg Gunnarsdóttir and Úlfur Bragi Einarsson.
