  1. General presentations

    • 0701205 – Newcomers' broadcast.

      A summary from Flensborgarskóli was presented, along with an email from Halldór Árni, Head of the school's Media Department, regarding the query from the Democracy and Equality Committee from the last meeting.

    • 0701391 – A school project, a collaborative project of the Municipality of Hfj., the Municipality of Kópavogur, the Municipality of Akureyri, the Equality Institute, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the City of Reykjavík.

      The Equality and Democracy Officer presented a seminar on the training programme for the development project on equality education in nurseries and primary schools, in which the City of Hafnarfjörður is participating. The seminar was held on Tuesday, 26 May at Salinn in Kópavogur. The seminar presented, among other things, ten projects that can be used for equality work in schools. Representatives from Hörðuvellir Nursery School and Lækjarskóli presented the results of the project work from the winter in their schools.

      DemocracyThe Democracy and Equality Committee requests that representatives from Hörðuvellir Nursery School and Lækjarskóli, together with contacts from the Education Department, attend the committee's next meeting to discuss the equality projects and how their outcomes can be utilised within the council's education sector.

    The Representative for Democracy and Equality reported on a course on the concept of mainstreaming in policymaking, organised by the Equality Authority, which he attended on 21 April.

    The Representative for Democracy and Equality reported on a promotional meeting for the Cities Against Racism initiative which he attended on 14 May, as the meeting was organised by the organisation Islandpanorama.
