  1. General presentations

    • 1104364 – Nursery school calendars 2011-2012

      A request was submitted from the Hjalli nursery school for a change to the planning days.

      The Education Committee approves the headteacher's request to move the planning days, provided that the school's parents' council has given its consent.;

    • 10103513 – Agenda 21 for Local Authorities, revision

      A matter referred to the Education Committee from the Environment Committee, for consideration by the Committee.

      The Education Committee requests that a proposed report be presented at its next meeting.The Early Years Development Officer left the meeting at 8:30 a.m.;

    • 11023021 – Youth centres and all-day school

      Actions from the last council meeting. Vigfús Hallgrímsson, primary school development officer, presented a report on all-day schools. Submissions were made from the heads of primary schools and the Hraunvallaskóli Parents' Association.

      The Education Committee thanks the presentation of the working group's report on the organisation of full-day schools in Hafnarfjörður.

      <SPAN style=“mso-ansi-language: The Education Committee proposes that an open meeting be held as soon as possible to discuss the ideas for all-day schools and community centres, as set out in the working group's report.

      <SPAN style=“mso-ansi-language: In addition, the education council proposes that a cost analysis be carried out on the options discussed in the working group's report, and that the report be sent for comment to relevant professionals and stakeholders.

    • 1008205 – Main curriculum for primary schools based on the Primary Education Act of 2008

      Drafts of the education department's review of the national curriculum for primary schools were presented.

      The Education Committee endorses the proposals set out in the department's report and has no comments.;

    • 1104375 – Primary schools, matter 747 for consultation

      Drafts of a report on amendments to the primary education act were presented.

      The Education Committee adopts a draft opinion on amendments to the primary education act.;

    • 11023156 – Delivery of PE teaching in Hafnarfjörður

      Information from headteachers regarding the arrangement of PE teaching for the next academic year was presented.

    • 1009201 – Education Department Budget 2011

      A memorandum from the Director of Education regarding cleaning in primary schools was presented, and cost-saving measures were reviewed.

      The parent representative for nursery children left the meeting at 10:45.;

      Submitted nominations have been announced.
