The harbour city emphasises giving everyone the opportunity to experience culture and the arts, and offers guided tours for all age groups. Perspective A programme for older people with an interest in culture and the arts, to learn about the activities of Hafnarborg, current exhibitions or individual works from the collection.

The events provide an opportunity for visitors to engage with the art in a variety of ways through conversation with the museum's experts. Coffee and refreshments will be served at Hafnarborg after the programme.

Hafnarborg's Autumn Exhibition: Flows In – Flows Out

A guide to the Hafnarborg autumn exhibition flows in – flows out but the focus is on the coastline, where the great and the violent and the small and the delicate come into conflict. The artists taking part in the exhibition are Alda Mohr Eyðunardóttir, Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir, Pétur Thomsen, Stuart Richardson, Studio ThinkingHand and Tadashi Ono.

Selected work from the collection

The Hafnarborg collection comprises around 1,560 works created using a variety of media. It includes paintings, drawings, three-dimensional works, video art and outdoor sculptures. The collection will examine in detail Naïvism and its works. Fish drying (1990) by Sigurlaug Jónasdóttir (1913-2003).

Sóley Eiríksdóttir

A guide to the exhibition Joking on the works of Sóley Eiríksdóttir (1957-1994). Earlier this year, a magnificent gift was added to the Hafnarborg collection when Brynja Jónsdóttir, the artist's daughter, donated a sculpture by her mother to the museum. Sóley was born and raised in Hafnarfjörður, the daughter of Bryndís Sigurðardóttir and the artist Eiríkur Smith.
