Vodafone to continue providing telephone and telecommunications services for the City of Hafnarfjörður

Hafnarfjörður Municipality and Vodafone have signed a new three-year agreement for telephone and telecommunications services for the municipality, with the option to extend for a maximum of two years. Vodafone has provided telephone and telecommunications services to Hafnarfjörður Municipality since 2006.

„It is very pleasing to be able to continue our successful partnership with Vodafone to develop a robust network for all of the City of Hafnarfjörður's premises. It is no less important to have a strong supporter in the council's ambitious strategy to modernise the technological environment for its staff and workplaces through various cloud solutions and digital transformation,“ says Eymundur Björnsson, Head of the Development and IT Department.

An offer below the cost estimate

Bids in the mini-tender were opened in July 2022, and the tender notice was sent to those parties in the telecommunications market who have a framework agreement with Ríkiskaup. Two bids were received, one from Síminn and the other from Sýn hf., which owns and operates, among others, Vodafone. The cost estimate for the mini-tender was around 2.6 million króna. Sýn's bid was approximately 1.3 million króna below the cost estimate, at kr. 1,302,770, and the favourable offer is mainly due to changes in technology and usage, and a greater focus on cost based on data volume rather than connections. Vodafone's telecommunications and communications services for the City of Hafnarfjörður include all product categories, i.e. GSM, fixed-line, data connections, data transmission, and the leasing of appropriate equipment for the connections.
