Construction of Sörli's new riding arena began in mid-April 2023. The pouring of the foundations began in early June, and the construction of the foundations for the riding arena and the building took place over the summer and autumn. In spring 2024, work will resume in earnest on the erection of the hall, along with the final finishing of the building.

The contractor's facilities will be located indoors at the northern end of the current premises. The work area is enclosed by a hoarding, and unauthorised persons are prohibited from entering the site unless accompanied by contractor personnel. The plans are for the hall's riding surface to be ready for use in January 2024, although work on other parts of the project will continue.

On 29 November, the City of Hafnarfjörður, Eykt and Sörli signed a contract for the construction of a new riding arena for the riding club Sörli. A new indoor riding arena will completely transform the facilities for equestrians at Sörli and open up new opportunities for indoor competitions. The Sörli grounds and its arena complex are unique, and the community, environment and surroundings that Sörli has built up in the area are exemplary. The new building will bring members and visitors even closer to the arena, the sport, and the horses. Indoor and outdoor spectator areas will merge, and from the new building, it will be possible to walk out onto a paved terrace above a new spectator bank by the arena. The new building will help the club to further its excellent work in developing its children's and novice programmes, and will expand opportunities for instruction and regular training sessions for Sörli's members. The club's competitive and elite athletes will finally have a superb indoor facility for training.
