School arrangements due to announced strikes
In the event of a strike, the organisation of school activities in the primary schools of the City of Hafnarfjörður will be as follows.
Members of BSRB working in primary schools and after-school clubs, school and leisure staff, support officers, school secretaries and caretakers, and others who are members of the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association, have called a strike as follows:
- From 00:00 on Monday 22 May until 12 noon on the same day.
- From 00:00 on Tuesday 23 May until 12 noon on the same day.
- From 00:00 on Wednesday 24 May until 23:59 on the same day
No one may take over the duties of this staff except the headteacher. In the event of a strike, the primary schools of the City of Hafnarfjörður will be open as follows:
- Monday 22 May. School activities will run according to the timetable from 12 noon. After-school activities and the opening hours of youth centres will remain unchanged.
- Tuesday 23 May. School activities follow the timetable for the first two lessons and from 12:00. There are no school activities from the first two lessons until 12:00. Leisure activities and the opening of youth centres are unchanged.
- Wednesday, 24th May. School activities according to the timetable for the first two lessons and No school after that. Clubs are closed. The activities of youth centres are unchanged.
It is clear that the strike is affecting supervision, mealtimes and support for individual students. The school may contact the parents of children with significant special educational needs. No telephone answering is to be expected while strikes are taking place.
If the strike is cancelled, school will continue as normal. Parents and guardians are encouraged to keep a close eye on developments.
