At its meeting on 21 June, the Hafnarfjörður Town Council resolved to advertise an amendment to the detailed plan for Skarðshlíðar in accordance with section 1 of article 43 of the Planning Act No. 123/2010.

The change consists of amending the planning conditions.

It is forbidden to erect fences in the neighbourhood. Fences/screen walls are not permitted in front of houses on the street-facing side or on the boundary with open, undeveloped areas. Boundaries must be marked with planting. Fences/screen walls may be erected up to a maximum height of 1.5 m at the rear of plots and to the side of a house, provided they are never closer than 1.5 m to the boundary and never extend beyond the street-facing building line. All structures or vegetation on the boundary are subject to the consent of the owner of the adjoining plot. If consent is given by both owners of adjoining plots to erect a fence/screen wall on the boundary, this is permitted, provided it does not exceed a height of 1.5m. The height of fences/screening fences is to be measured from the L and G levels shown on the site plans.
