In my view: Shadow Theatre – a multilingual storytelling workshop
On Sunday 11 October from 1 pm to 3 pm, Hafnarborg and GETA are hosting a multilingual storytelling workshop where participants will create characters and tell…
Sunday, 3rd September at 1 pm will Elisabet Brynhildardóttir, an artist, will be welcoming visitors and talking about their work at the exhibition. Stuttering line which is currently on show. The exhibition features both new and older works in which Elísabet scrutinises the act of drawing and explores the countless possibilities of the line itself.
Drawing is our first visual response to the world, long before we learn to write, and it functions as a kind of projection of imagination and thoughts onto material. Few art media get as close to the artist's raw vision as drawing – it is a direct connection to thought, and also sheds light on the very intimate relationship between the person and their tool. Elísabet then examines the time, emotion and perception behind the drawing, or as the artist Richard Serra once said: „You don't make a drawing – you draw“.
Elísabet Brynhildardóttir (b. 1983) works with a variety of media, though drawing and sculpture are the most prominent. In her work, she explores our relationship with the material world and its limits, as well as contemplating ideas of time and impermanence. She has also participated in a wide range of exhibitions and other art-related activities, and her works have been shown, among other places, at i8 Gallery, the Akureyri Art Museum, Kling & Bang, Skaftfell and Nýlistasafnið. Elísabet graduated with a BA in Fine Art in 2007 from The University College for the Creative Arts in the UK.
Free admission – all are welcome.
