Opening of a new playground at Hvaleyrarvatn
On Thursday, 27th July from 1pm to 2pm, there will be a formal opening of the new play area at Hvaleyrarvatn, where construction work has been underway this summer. .
In collaboration with the town's imaginative residents, it was decided to name the new playground Paradise garden. A total of 44 suggestions were received for the naming competition. But the four suggestions chosen by the Environment and Operations Council all related to the idea that Hvaleyrarvatn is like a paradise on earth. A natural gem for the whole family to enjoy all year round.
The area in question is near the barbecue area and the new car parks which were completed last year. The project is part of the development of the area around Hvaleyrarvatn and Höfðaskógur. A path by the lake has already been improved, better parking facilities have been created at the western end of the lake, and now there is a new playground in this paradise-like area.
